head housekeeper,permanent position, starting from 14/06/2008 onwards

  

Deputy Housekeeper:  Salary: 15,834k per annum.  Required by one of Jersey’s most famous Hotels, located in the centre of the Island’s capital, overlooking Liberation Square and St. Helier yacht marina.  The successful applicant will be assisting the Housekeeper in the Management and overall responsibility of all cleaning in the Hotel in line with Hotel Policy. Duties will include ensuring that all areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards in line with Policy stated by the Group Housekeeping Department

An operational awareness of staff wages costs in line with current forecasts and budgets. Maintenance of good hygiene practices with particular emphasis on HACCAP & COSSH. In conjunction with the Personnel department ensure all employee files are current and complete in line with hotel standards.  Subsidised live-in accommodation is available.  Permanent position, immediate start.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.         Liase with the Housekeeper in recruitment of Department staff, supervise all personnel within the Housekeeping Dept. which includes Assistant Housekeepers, Room Attendants, Cleaners, Linen Keepers and House Porters.

2.                  Keep department records and inform Management of changes in staff and wages.

3.                   In the absence of the Housekeeper Liaise with Personnel Manager on staffing levels

4.         Assist in the organisation  of  all rotas, holidays entitlements, bank holidays, overtime etc. and discuss with management.

Complete responsibility for training, welfare and

discipline of Housekeeping personnel.

6.                  Delegate duties to Assistants to ensure that a good standard of Housekeeping is maintained by all employees and ensure that the assistants are competent to train and supervise personnel

7.                  Responsible for the regular inspection of all public areas including Male Female Public toilets together with bedrooms, corridors, staff areas and accommodation. Responsible for the checking of bedrooms.

8.                  Report all daily maintenance and check work completed.

9.                  Check that the Assistants are keeping standard required and that all maintenance reports are up to date.

10.              Oversee/compile allocation of Room Attendants work from daily computer lists.

11.              Responsible for organising guest dry cleaning and laundry, together with the control of staff dry cleaning

12.              Responsible for the ordering of all cleaning stores, equipment and servicing of vacuum cleaners etc.

             Complete responsibility for linen room and liaison between Laundry, together with organising of linen        

             stock takes.

13.              Responsible for all uniforms issued to staff and liaise with Management for items to be returned in good condition when staff leave (return deposit where applicable).

14.              Organise window cleaning, shampooing of carpets and yearly spring cleaning of guest and staff bedrooms.

15.              Arrange the monthly turning of guest of guest mattresses with House Porters/Porters.

16.              Keep control of all Lost Property with record book.

17.              Responsible for floral arrangements, baby sitting, extra beds and transfers.

18.              Full co-operation with General Manager and his assistants regarding Banqueting/Conference or other special requirements.

19.              Report all complaints, accidents and illness to Management immediately and note in Housekeeping diary. Report all damage, burns, floods, theft etc to Management.

20.              Complete responsibility for all keys in Housekeeping Department and security supervision, including reporting any suspicious people or incidents to Duty Manager.

21.              Responsible for the Departments compliance with the Hotel’s Health & Safety procedures and Fire precautions. Ensure the proper maintenance of all items of Room Attendants tools and equipment (i.e. stepladders, vacuum cleaners, trolleys and check the wiring of the TV’s, kettles and irons).

22.              Assist with the yearly maintenance inspections which are carried out by Seymour Services Supervisory Housekeeping Department.
