It is one of the busiest hotels in the group and has 8 large function rooms which hold up to 1000 guests. It is a traditional property, yet the team have a modern approach and a passion for providing exceptional service. Through Government initiatives, Barceló Hotels & Resorts together with VT Training are looking to recruit Apprentice Chefs to work in our busy kitchen's, whilst learning at the same time. We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic apprentices who have the ability to maintain a high level of product knowledge in order to produce a consistent product, the ability to take initiative and generate new ideas and importantly show commitment to the Company and the scheme. Strong customer service skills and the ability to work in a team and communicate at all levels are essential.

to join our Kitchen team.
Sous Chef overview:
To contribute to customer satisfaction through the preparation of high-quality food items in accordance with hotel standards and to maximise hotel customer satisfaction and profitability through Food and Beverage service.
Sous Chef key responsibilities:
To deputise the management of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
Contribute to the production of food items in accordance with instructions from the Head Chef.
Be knowledgeable of the day’s business, i.e. know what reservations are booked in to the Food & Beverage outlets, be aware of outside events that will impact directly on business, etc.
Be familiar with the menu and with any “specials” of the day.
Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely fashion.
Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen/buffet are prepared to the approved standard of presentation.
Avoid unnecessary wastage, to observe proper portion planning and control and to act in a cost effective, responsible manner.
Ensure excellent food hygiene practice is observed in the entire food chain from storage through to preparation and service.
Ensure HACCP compliance within the kitchen and all Food & Beverage outlets.
Ensure the kitchen equipment is in working order and report any maintenance issues.
To contribute to the training and development of kitchen team.
The ideal candidate for this position:
Must have previous experience in a similar position.
Must be standards driven and detail-orientated.
Must have the ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
Must be flexible with regards to hours.
Must have a good command of the English language.
Must have excellent self-presentation.
Should have detailed knowledge of HACCP and Health & Safety legislation.
Should have relevant professional qualification.
